TWO NEW BOOKS IN OUR STORE

Angel Promises…Remembering Karen Lee,” is about Karen Fitzpatrick's untimely loss in the Thirty Mile Fire. It has hundreds of pictures, including last moments of the fire, and journal notes taken from Karen's fire pack after her death. Known for her singing voice, and inspirational writings and public speaking, the book contains many of her personal writings; both essays and poetry. Among other things, the book shows where some of the monuments to the Thirtymile Fire are located, and how some of them were constructed. The book was put together and written by her mother, Kathie Fitzpatrick.

"One Foot in the Black" is a novel about a determined loner battling both California wildfires and memories of a difficult childhood.  Greg Kowalski, a teenager from Saginaw, Mich., had a volatile father, a Harley-driving firefighter, who bemeaned Greg and his younger sister with verbal attacks, and physically abused their mother. Upon graduating from high school Greg enters a training program at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Greg’s efforts to shake loose of his past make for a compelling, fast-paced read. Written by Kurt Kamm.

100% of the sales from these two products go to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation!
