All Fire Day A Big Sucess

WFF
Local Fire Fighters Train for Upcoming Season

The Salmon-Challis National Forest wrapped up its annual spring fire training with an All Forest Employee Fire Season Preparation Day Friday at the BLM Cottonwood Campground north of Challis. During the morning more than 100 employees heard words from the Forest Supervisor, Frank Guzman concerning fire management and decision making, roles and responsibilities, wilderness values and heritage resources. Also a presentation on the new processes for Fire Hire was given by the Regional Training Officer Tenna Biggs.

The emphasis for the day revolved around the objective to:
Increase safety awareness and efficiency through building a cohesive Central Idaho fire zone.

Training and team building occurred by utilizing competitive hose lay exercises which required setting up established pumps to draft water from the Salmon River and have lays of 400 feet. This training exercise required efficient team work and knowledge of pump operations to successfully complete the exercise in a short time period.
  • Thank you to all who helped make it happen.
  • To all who attended
  • A big thank you to the Salmon-Challis United Benefits Association (SCUBA) for the donation to fund the BBQ
  • The donation to The Wildland Firefighter Foundation final total was $745.25
