Idaho City Hotshot Crewmember Receives Burns While on Fire Assignment in Alaska.
Boise, ID - Todd Wanner, a 28 year old Idaho City Hotshot Crewmember received second and third degree burns yesterday while fighting a fire in Alaska.

The initial information indicated that while he was working with a water pump an explosion occurred from gasoline. He was transported from the incident to Fairbank’s Memorial Hospital for initial treatment, and early this morning was flown to Harbor View Hospital in Seattle. He was accompanied by a fellow paramedic crewmember.

He received burns on his hands, arms and face. The Burn Center unit at the hospital is currently evaluating him. Initial reports indicated the deeper burns were on his hands and his face was mainly singed.

His family has been notified and Boise National Forest supervisors are working with the hospital, family and incident personnel.

The crew was on the Minto Flat South Fire, but were sent to an initial attack fire nearby to provide help. The accident occurred at approximately 7 PM (AK time).
